Yes & no: You can use albuterol if your respiratory symptoms are mainly cough and not wheeze. If you are needing it every 4 hrs (or sooner), you need to go to the er for optimizing. If you need it daily, you need to see your dr for better control of your condition. If not improving on abx, you likely need more aggressive treatment--go to the er.

Details important: Depending on the circumstances- 1. It's a viral infection-antibiotics are ineffective if this is the case. 2. Post infectious bronchitis. If so, antibiotics are ineffective. Albuterol should provide temporary relief. 3. It's an infection for which the current antibiotic is not effective. Your symptoms seems pertussis - like- if so, Azithromycin is more appropriate
