Fibromyalgia?: Usually, i find this condition in people who find it difficult to relax. They tend to hold their shoulders up against gravity...& are not aware they are doing it! over time, neck & shoulder muscles become inflamed from this chronic tension. Chronic pain is a drain on psychic energy, ultimately leading to a secondary depression. Try pt, massage, anti-inflammatories, anti-depressants, hypnosis &talk.

THESE MIGHT HELP: Would suggest regular stretching, aerobic exercise whether or not you are uncomfortable, and get a relaxation dvd and practice daily. Might try meditation and perhaps yoga as additional approaches. Would try to avoid usage of analgesic meds, unless symptoms get very intense.
