HEEL PAIN: Heel pain has many causes. Weight is one of contributing factors. Along with poor shoe choices, activity changes, and weight bearing surfaces. Start by doing calf stretches, Ibuprofen (or other anti-inflammatory), and wearing arch supports (all day long). If that doesn't work see a foot specialist. Good luck!

NEED FOR SUPPORT!: Most shoes aren't always what is bad, usually it's the crummy insoles they come with! there are many possibe reasons (plantar fascitis leaps to mind) that you may have pain in the heels, but try arch supports like spenco polysorb (http://www.Spenco.Com/products/footcare/poly-sorb) and otc anti-inflammatories (like aleve). If these don't help, see a podiatrist.

Many possibilities: Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, a condition that is sometimes also called heel spur syndrome when a spur is present. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as, infection, tendonitis, arthritis, stress fracture, nerve irritation, retained foreign body, bone tumor, or a cyst. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
