A member asked:

I always feel like i have a lump in my throat and my thyroid isthmus was measured at 5.4mm thick, does this usually require surgery?

Sounds normal: Doesn't sound like anything is wrong. It does sound like you've had a thyroid ultrasound, and the important result would be the presence of one or more significant nodules. Routine lab results would also be important. Ask whomever ordered your testing in the first place. The need for thyroid surgery should be pretty low in your case.
