Heredity: The biggest factor in the cause of varicose veins is heredity. If your mom has varicose veins, your cahnce of getting them is nearly 50%. If both of your parents have them, that risk increases to more than 90%. Medicine won't give you varicose veins and, for the most part, neither will anything else other than the fact that you inherited the wrong genes.

Heredity: It is not unusual for people to have varicose veins even by 17 years old. The main cause is heredity, followed by prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, heavy weight lifting, heat, hormones, pregnancies, etc. You can be evaluated by a vein doctor, phlebology: www.Phlebology.Org to find one in your area.

Trauma or genetic.: Varicose veins are due to leaking(refluxing) valves usually of the saphenous system. The most common causes of this problem in young people is either genetic(hereditary) or trauma. The youngest male that I have treated was 13 with football trauma leading to the varicose veins and the youngest female was 11. You should see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation and venous ultrasound.
