A member asked:

In medicine, what does the term 'half life' mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

T 1/2.: A half life is the amount of time required for a substance to decay or be metabolized to the point that half of the substance remains. So that if you start with 100 grams of a substance and three hours later you have 50 grams, the half life is 3 hours. After another three hours you should have 25 grams and after another 3, 12.5 and so on.
