What does drug resistance mean?

Dr. James Fox answered

Doesn't work: Essentially, it means that the drug is ineffective for the intended treatment. If you're talking about "drug resistant" bacteria, it means that the antibiotic chosen will not eliminate the bacteria. If you are talking about depression, "drug resistance" or "treatment resistance" means that that drug does not effectively treat your depression.

Ineffective drug: Drug resistance means that the microorganism being treated is resistant to the anti-bacterial or anti-viral effects of that antibiotic.
