A member asked:

Should my pelvic pain be consistent if there is a problem with my copper iud, or could it just my really severe crippling feeling on my period?

Either : Copper iud's can make your periods heavier and/or more painful. If you have always been on birth control pills, this may be what your "normal" periods are like.

The latter...usually: Unfortunately, the copper iud has a known side effect of making periods both heavier and more painful. Some women will have more regular or persistent pain with their iud;that may also indicate a perforation, or migration of the iud, or even partial perforation into the muscle layer of the uterus. U should have a sono & visit to ensure no complications. If it's in proper place:can remove or ad oc.
