A member asked:

I went to the doctor today and they did a urine test which came back negative for pregnancy but it said positive interal control. what does that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Test worked: The control is to make sure the test strip is active and working correctly. If you had a negative test without the control, you would have to retest because you wouldn't know if you were getting a false negative or not.
