A member asked:

My 72 yo mother in law stopped taking her diabetic type 2 meds about 2 weeks ago her blood sugar is 379 do we need to seek urgent help or just try and?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, : Yes, you need to have her seen by a doctor and given insulin. It is not uncommon for diabetics to stop their medicines for either financial or emotional reasons. It is difficult to accept having a serious chronic disease that requires, sometimes expensive, meds. She needs to protect her kidneys and heart with sugar control, blood pressure control & cholesterol control. She needs encouragement.
