Staph aureus: We are all colonized with staph aureus. Whether or not we become infected with these organisms depends on multiple different factors. The ones that are in your cat are the same as the ones in your gut, or in your nasopharynx or on your skin. They have the same disease producing mechanisms. Whether they will infect you is problematic.
