Stability: The height of the arch is less important than how stable it is in gait. If your arches "collapse" when you walk, this causes strain on the other structures of the feet and ankles. Shoes seldom cure foot problems but a poor shoe will worsen the situation. See a podiatrist who can discuss making foot orthotics for you. In some cases, surgery can even be appropriate.
