Indicates more work: Post operative sensitivity is normal for several weeks after the procedure. Lingering sensitivity, that lasts longer than the normal period of healing, maybe indicate deeper issues. Simply put, the closer the filling gets to the nerve center of the tooth, the more likely there is nerve trauma. This may be a sign that additional work may be needed, ie. A root canal procedure.
