Bursae over bone: Most common cause of a lump that is painful in your age group is a bone prominence where the infra patella tendon attaches. It probably has a bursae or a sac the the body has produced to protect it but it can be painful if hit. Bone is more prominent if you suffered for osgood-schlatters disease that makes bone even more prominent.
