Osgood Schlatter.: See a physician because it is hard to diagnose the patient without examination. But with your description i think she is having osgood-schlatter disease which is a painful swelling of the bump on the upper part of the shinbone, just below the knee. This bump is called the anterior tibial tubercl. It is thought to be caused by small injuries due to repeated overuse before the area finished growing.

Osgood vs tendinitis: It could be a condition call osgood- schlatter's which is a growth plate issue where the knee cap tendon attaches. The other option is a tendinitis.
