Risks vs benefits: Experimental animal studies and human reports suggest standard use is not expected to increase risk of congenital anomalies. Use late in pregnancy can be associated with a mild transient neonatal syndrome of central nervous system, motor, respiratory, and gastrointestinal signs. It is transferred to human milk.
