Very accurate: A home urine pregnancy test can be positive a few days before your period is due. It becomes very accurate by 1 week after your period is due.

Depends on the test: Different home pregnancy tests have different HCG levels to trigger a positive. Usually if a woman is pregnant, by the time she misses her period - it will trigger a positive test with first morning void. However, this doesn't always happen and sometimes needs to be repeated.
