Ice: Icing the area after running can really help. Also, anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen are helpful.

Itb syndrome?: Lots of runners have knee pain. Exercises and stretching along with backing off for awhile are helpful, many exercise programs to address these issues are available online, sites like simpletherapy.Com can be helpful. If the pain persists, a course of skilled therapy may be necessary.
