Likely a virus: The most common cause of sore throat is a viral infection. I would treat the symptoms and if it is t getting better get seen.

Could be Many Things: There are many possibilities-strep, virus, allergies, irritation, mouthbreathing, smoking. With so little information in this forum, see your doctor.
