Probably shouldn't. : I would not prescribe it for you given your past history with it. There are other options. Zyban (also known as bupropion) is a little less effective but would not be as likely to cause such problematic side effects. Chantix is a very potent psychoactive agent, and I have no guarantee i could effectively treat the side effects when they emerged again. I don't prescribe Chantix because of that.

A/W Dr. Berkowitz: I would encourage you not to use Chantix after your previous side effects on this medication. The fda requires a black box warning for chantix. Per http://www.Aboutlawsuits.Com/chantix-black-box-suicide-warning-4684/ "a boxed warning will notify consumers that the smoking cessation drug may ^ the risk of changes in behavior, depression, hostility ; suicidal thoughts.".
