Muscle weakness: The feeling of instability can be due to muscle weakness, a torn meniscus or looseness in your acl/mcl. You can measure your thigh circumference 6 inches above each kneecap as crude way of determining muscle atrophy. The other two conditions would need to be evaluated by your surgeon.
