Several choices: While just about any oral antihistamine will help the itching associated with eczema, I have good results with Cetirizine (zyrtec). For children with significant itching at night, i'll use Atarax (hydroxyzine) as it helps itching and causes drowsiness to help them sleep. While Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is inexpensive and will help, it lasts about 6 hours and some people have drowsiness and slow reaction time.
