It depends...: The dr will ask you a lot of questions about the pain you ar having, (which helps to identify the causes), then he/she may do an exam- involving use of a device to look inside the vagina, then likely an exam placing 1 gloved index finger inside the vagina pushing up, and one hand on your lower abd. Pushing down to see if your ovaries or uterus are tender. They may not do exam, but sched ultrasound.
