A member asked:

I am 23 and not sexually active. my mom is freaking out because i have not had a pelvic exam yet, but do i really need one if i am not sexually active?

Basic guidelines: Most women health experts recommend pelvic exams start 2 years after any sexual activity or by 21 years of age. The process does not have to be very invasive but a visit to the obgyn with a good screening history and physical is important.Just because you don't use the equipment for sex does not mean you can ignore it.
