Gyn exam: A gynecologist deals only with women specializing in disease processes that involve women. Many also affect men but there is a wide variety that are specific to women. Your primary care doctor is more than capable of performing a gyn exam. If abnormalities are noted they would then refer you to a gynecologist for further work up.
