Not likely: After requiring dialysis for two years, to replace the life sustaining function your kidneys have failed to provide, it is unlikely they will recover. For the information you've provided you desire to stop dialysis. Talk to your doctor and see if transplant is an option for you.

Getting off dialsis: I do not believe that you will be able to come off dialysis after being on it for two years without getting a renal transplant. Most patients who start hemodialysis (hd) for renal failure and off it do so within 2-3 months. The fact that you have been on hd for 2 years makes it difficult for me to see a reason why your kidneys will suddenly start to work allowing you to stop your hd treatments.

Kidney recovery: Kidney recovery is highly unlikely after 2 years of dialysis. It is not unheard of, but is rare. Cause of kidney failure matters with the consideration of possible reversal of kidney injury.

No ....: Occasionally an individual may only need dialysis a short time to get her through a health crisis, but if you have been on dialysis for two years you will need this type of kidney treatment for the rest of your life.Your doctors have many suggestions for you about how to maximize the benefits of dialysis.Kidney transplant, as you no doubt know, is also a treatment for end stage renal disease.Peace
