Why is gluten free not suggested more to help treat adhd symptoms when it often helps (including my son) ? esp. since there are gluten free grains.

Gluten free diet: Well! the reason that its not suggested --- because the practice of medicine is leaning more and more towards " evidence based" . By that i mean, so far there are no " contolled clinical trials" that have proven the efficacy of such therapies. I agree however, that we need to formulate such studies in order to improve upon our practices.

Not experts: Adhd is a specialty of mine, so i'll try to set the record straight. Since we have pills for the condition, meds have jumped up the list to be the first line of treatment. Finding a doctor willing to work with alternative means of treatment such as diet changes, yoga, meditation, behavioral interventions is important as the medications only help so much.
