A member asked:

We found out theres extra cerebrospinal fluid on frontal lobes in our 6 month old boy. we are told its benigndoes this really just go away on its own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it can: There is definitely a tpe of hydrocephalus that is benign and not caused by any obstruction in the CSF pathways in the brain, and yes, indeed, this can just clear up on its own over time, usually between ages 1 and 3. If a good neurologist or pediatric neurosurgeon has reviewed everything and concluded that it is indeed the type that will just clear up, rest assured!
