Perhaps: Following a true traumatic brain injury, spontaneous healing begins within a few days, and most recovery is substantial by 9-12 months, and a lesser improvement by 18 months. Possibly: After over 8 years, it is unlikely that memory will improve. However, intense cognitive therapy may help one to recognize and learn to compensate for memory deficits. It may be useful to consult your physician to see if there are any structural changes that have developed in the brain which may be treated and may help with the memory issues. For example, post-traumatic/normal pressure hydrocephalus.
