Your surgeon: Or your anesthesiologist will decide if you need cardiac clearance before a general anesthesia. Discuss with your doctors and or a cardiologist. I don't know if you have any cardiac history or symptoms but at 61 might benefit from a cardiology work up before surgery.

Heart attack: This could be a sign if an old heart attack. If it was the computer reading, it may not be correct. Comparison with an old ECG is helpful. Depending on the type of hernia operation ( there are many), the surgeon and anesthesiologist will decide to proceed or postpone. They should discuss the risks with you as well.
