Many: If you don't have diabetes already, the best thing you can do to prevent its onset is to control your weights, lose weights if you are currently overweight. Start and maintain an exercise program (walking at moderate pace is fine). If you already have diabetes, work closely with your doctor to control it with the appropriate diet/exercise routine and the proper medical/pharmacological regimen.

None: With today's knowledge it is not considered possible to eliminate diabetes. However, if you pay attention to the diet and exercise and medication routine with type 2 diabetes it is quite possible to control it well enough that your blood sugar will be within the normal , range most, if not all, of the time and the complications will be unlikely.
