Safe and effective : I have recommended l-theanine to hundreds of patients & find it safe & effective in reducing anxiety. However, i usually advise it in combination with other anti-anxiety agents like magnesium & holy basil (as theanine calming formula), so it's hard to assess how much of the benefit they get is purely from l-theanine.
