Tears not enough: Dry eye disease is treated with artificial tear supplementation, humidifier to increase the ambient humidity, omega 3 supplementation , and possible pharamcologic intervention, ie. Restasis. If you have meibomian gland dysfunction an an evaporative component to your dry eye, treatment can be directed there as well. Treat dry eyes: Dry eyes could be the cause of your redness. Unfortunately there is no cure for dry eyes and you must maintain treatment which may improve your symptoms and redness. If normal artificial tears do not work then you may need stronger prescription medications.
