Yes.: Severe sepsis can result in multi-organ failure, and sometimes permanent organ injury, particularly (but not limited) to the heart and kidneys. Follow up with a physician who can monitor organ function is important and advised. Good luck!

Potentially mortal: Septicemia can be associated with septic shock and multiple organ failure, some of them can be life threatening or lead to serious and permanent morbidities and this can involve any of the body systems.
