Multiple Possiblity: Sine you are 20, it could be that your wisdom teeth are coming in or are positioned in such a way that they block to joint from allowing the mouth to open wider. It also could be that you are under stress and developing a tmd which can cause pain on opening wide. You need to see your dentist and have x-rays taken in either case.

Tmj: It sounds like internal derangement of the miniscus of the temporal mandibular joint. This often happens due to trauma or can be a chronic disorder, in short, the attachment of the posterior miniscus is damaged or stretched and the lateral pterygoid muscle pulls it forward of the head of the mandible in the fossa and does not allow the jaw to slide forward properly
