Many ways to treat: There are many ways to treat tinea versicolor (tv). Tv is caused by a yeast that is not contagious. You can use over the counter selenium sulfide shampoos or over the counter Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo several times per week to keep tv away. Your doctor may also want you to pulse the Fluconazole every 4 weeks. We do this in the warm, humid months.
