Evaluate and Treat: Fever in AML is very serious. While various drugs (acetaminophen, steroids) can reduce the fever, the fever needs to be evaluated and treated aggressively.

Fever in an AML: Patient is a medical emergency and needs to be addressed immediately. You should contact your oncologist as soon as fever develops. They will almost certainly direct you to a clinic or ed for evaluation, collection of blood cultures and antibiotic administration. If you are neutropenic you will be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics and other supportive measures. Don't mess with fever + ca.
