How can a ultrasound show the difference in size from 5 weeks pregnant to six weeks?

Difficult: It is hard to make a distinction that small given the margin of error of the machine. Thye measurements are always given as a range.

Sac measurement: Size of the sac holding the embryo is measured in 3 dimensions, averaged, and compared to a chart that gives the age of the embryo.
