See a dentist: There are many causes for this. Please have her see a dentist who can diagnose the problem and suggest solutions. We would need a complete medical and dental history, along with a complete and thorough clinical examination and x-rays in order to try to establish the cause of her pain.

Burning gums: May very well be a symptom of a systemic problem. For best advice your wife should see a gum/bone specialist, aPeriodontist, for examination, complete medical/dental history, imaging, and necessary lab tests.
