Pilonidal cyst: Surgery to remove the cyst at this stage, no symptoms and no infection, is a good option. This is elective. Waiting until you have an infection, abscess, or severe pain is also an option. However, you will be urgent or emergent category and surgery will be necessary. Elective surgery has better outcomes for a reason. Good luck.

Recommended: The operation when you are not actively infected has better outcomes. One of the most difficult and common complications of surgery for pilonidal disease is wound infection. Doing the operation without an active infection and when it is dormant will significantly lower that risk.
