It really depends : The key is to know if you have a headache or a sinus infection. Generally with a sinus infection drainage and nasal congestion will be common. Ibuprofen works pretty well for sinus pain. Persistent or worsening sinus pressure or headache should be checked by a physician.

Treat it as migraine: Very often people complain of sinus headache, but there really is no such diagnosis. Most of the time when people complain of sinus pain, it is migraine. The nerves that transmit the migraine pain travel in the area of the sinuses. When these nerves are activated, their response is a "sinusy" pain. In sinusitis patients can have head pain, but this should be accompanied by pus from nose.

Vicks: The best treatments are nasal decongestants, mucolytics, tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin. One thing that I do when i get sinus pressure headaches is to rub Vicks on my forehead. Give it a try! it works for me.

Sinus HA: Saline lavages, saline nasal sprays, and inhalation of steam and vapor like the netti pot. These can be used liberally. Beginning now, a short course of afrin or other long acting otc nasal spray 2 puffs each nostril three times a day for three days should help.
