A balanced diet: It is important to have a balanced diet in pregnancy. A breakdown of approx. 50-60% carbs; 20% protein; 20-30% fats is a reasonable balance. Additionally, complex carbs. Are preferred--grains, fruits, and green vegetables. Proteins from lean meats--white fish and poultry. A simple rule, avoid processed and/or canned foods.
