This is learning!: Your baby is a sponge. The conversations with your baby at any age are greatly increasing their vocabulary and experience with language. Talk away at your level. Do not talk down to what you think a baby understands.

Early development: Although it is not usually evident to parents, infants begin to absorb the qualities of speech that give it rhythm & make it song-like. The tonal inflections you use with them during play and the speed and clarity of the sounds they hear imprint the language they will use.Think adults who learn a language late in life, they can never sound native, but a child can learn many & sound native in each.
