A member asked:

When do babies usually start talking?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Talking?: 9-12 months for words. But they begin cooing and then babbling between 2 and 4 months. By 9-12 months they can say mama, dada, baba, papa sounds and by 12 months say 1-2 words. So talking really begins at 2 months with cooing as they form sounds and listen to parents talking. They can recognize voices from in utero, ie they will recognize dad's voice as soon as they are born.
