No time period: Atopic dermatitis is a reaction of the skin to a variety of allergens from food to metals. The pproblem may be persistent due to the products you use on his skin or the foods he is eating. Try using unscented products and creams instead of lotions. Also consult with your doctor about possible allergens.

Can not say but: Many children will outgrow eczema or get better as they get old older but when that vwill happen in your three and a halh son can not be predicted. It depends on many factors like associated allergies to milk and other foods, severity of eczema and family history and avoidance of triggers.
