Allergies: Allergies to dust, mold, pollen, pets and other airborne allergens can make you more sensitive (but not allergic) to nonspecific irritants such as cigarette smoke, odors, newsprint, etc. Treating the underlying allergies will make you less sensitive to the nonspecific irritants.
