If the cause of the fever isn't obvious (e.g. a cold, etc) or if the fever is high (above 101F or about 38.5C), get medical care in person. Fever itself isn't harmful -- the important thing is to know the cause and, if necessary, get treatment for it. Do not take medication to lower fever (aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, etc) unless recommended by a doctor. Good luck.

Fever is an indication that there is an infection. It can be viral or bacterial and will typically be accompanied by other symptoms. Normally, fevers are not a cause for serious concern. Treat symptoms with acetaminophen or ibuprofen. If the fever is above 104, or accompanied by significant pain (head, abdomen, chest or back), see an in person Dr for Diagnosis and Treatment.
