Cartilage: A subchondral cyst can be due to a congenital or acquired defect of the articular cartilage. These can be benign but are often associated with early degenerative changes. There is typically nothing you would do surgically to this.

A subchondral cyst i: A very common finding and often dosnt mean anything. It is often noted in assymptomatic area that have low grade minimal arthritis on an MRI and i frequently see people referred for this finding that dont need anything. There are cases however when it means a fracture has not healed fully or a bone has poor blood supply or there is inflammatory change in the joint. Much depends upon the clinical.
