Big incompetent vein: Varicose veins are big , several times bigger than normal, incompetent, because the valves in them have failed, veins. Varicose veins can cause cramping and aching in the legs as well as fatigue and other symptoms. Varicose veins most important cause is genetics but staying healthy, active and maintaining an ideal weight helps some with prevention.

Enlarged veins: The leg superficial vein system can have ineffective valves( venous reflux) and some of the veins will dilate and bulge. They become visible, occasionally tender, and get bigger over time. Support stockings, ablation, and occasionally surgery can eliminate or improve existing varicose vein complexes.

Heredity: Unfortunately, the main cause of varicose veins is heredity, as dr. Wright said. Unfortunately, you can't change that. Prolonged standing, pregnancy, age, and (maybe) being overweight also contribute to the problem. Symptoms include aching, pain, tiredness, fatigue, swelling, cramping, leg restlessness, heaviness, throbbing, itching, and burning, the most telltale sign is big bulging leg veins.

Bulging Veins.: Varicose veins are bulging grape-like appearing veins which are most commonly seen on the legs. These are due to leaking(refluxing) valves usually in the saphenous system. Some causes include hereditary, pregnancy, trauma and aging. The gold standard of treatment is to have a venous reflux ultrasound to both diagnose and form a treatment plan. You should see a vein specialist.
