Many possibilities: There are many different causes of shoulder pain -- bursitis, rotator cuff inflammation and rotator cuff tears (to name a few). Perhaps try a short trial of over the counter anti-inflammatory medications. If your pain persists, you should seek the advice of an orthopedic specialist.

Rotator cuff tear: You are the right age to tear or partially tear your rotator cuff. You should see an orthopedic surgeon for diagnostic test and treatment.

Impingement: Most common cause is rotator cuff impingement which usually gets better with medicine and specific reha exercises. However, could be lots of things and if it persists should probably be checked.
